Christian Horner predicts Verstappen v Leclerc could go down right to the wire

Red Bull’s Christian Horner has said that the fight between his team and Ferrari and their drivers could go down to the wire, similarly to 2021.

The 2022 season is certainly proving an exciting one so far with the Bulls and the Scuderia setting the early pace up at the front of the field.

Indeed, we’ve already seen some fine battles between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, and that is surely set to continue for much of the season, whilst Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz will also be looking to get involved.

With that all said, then, we could be in for another tense battle up to the final stages of the season and Horner has said that it could even go down to the wire, as it did in Abu Dhabi last year.

“Look, there is a long, long way to go and it is so tight with Ferrari. There has been some great racing,” said Horner.

“You can see there is a great respect between Charles and Max, they are enjoying racing each other, you can see that.

“I was rather hoping we weren’t set for another competitive year like last year but it looks like this one could well go all the way as well.”

It’s proving a very exciting battle between the two drivers at the moment and another battle between them is very possible this weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix.

It’s an event where teams regularly bring upgrades to their cars, too, and so it’ll be interesting to see who has the edge in Barcelona, before the teams quickly make their way to Monaco before the end of the month.
