Christian Eriksen: Man Utd star produced Iniesta-esque moment vs France

Christian Eriksen is arguably playing the best football of his distinguished career right now.

Just over a year after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, the Manchester United star is dropping masterclasses for fun.

Eriksen has been one of the Premier League’s form players so far in 2022/23 and he’s continued to dazzle on international duty.

The former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker scored an absolute stunner against Croatia last week and turned in a Man of the Match display during Denmark’s 2-0 win over France in the UEFA Nations League.

Eriksen didn’t score or assist in the match, but was a constant thorn in the world champions’ side.

He created eight chances in total, with Real Madrid pair Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni simply unable to contain him.

It really was Eriksen at his brilliant best and at one point in the match, the Dane morphed into Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta.

The 30-year-old showed off some obscene close control to escape from two France players, before playing a perfect line-breaking pass with his supposedly ‘weaker’ left peg.

What a baller he is.

In the same half, Eriksen also made Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano look rather foolish with another display of supreme skill.

The United man brought out the ‘bridge skill’ to leave the Frenchman trailing in his wake and it really was a work of art.

Eriksen is well and truly embodying the phrase ‘the beautiful game’ right now and he’s earned serious praise from United legend Michael Carrick as a result.
