Chris Eubank Jr sparks mass brawl by throwing egg at hated rival Conor Benn in emotionally charged presser
Chris Eubank Jr sparked a mass brawl after catching Conor Benn in the face whilst clenching an egg in his hand in reference to his boxing rival getting cleared over a doping ban.
There is no love lost between the two domestic rivals, who will finally share the ring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26 in the latest chapter of the Eubank v Benn rivalry, with the fighter's illustrious fathers Chris Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn facing off against each other in two epic bouts in the 90s. The bout was originally supposed to happen in October 2022 until Benn was forced to pull out at the last minute after testing positive for a banned substance.
Following a lengthy investigation, the 28-year-old has now been cleared of all charges, with the World Boxing Council determining that the reason for the positive test was because of Benn's 'highly-elevated consumption of eggs' The two boxers were brought together in Manchester on Tuesday for the fight's official launch press conference, where Eubank Jr repeatedly accused Benn of being a drugs cheat, also clashing with his rival's promoter Eddie Hearn. In response, Benn claimed that Eubank Jr doesn't even have the love of his own father and promised to end his career on April 26.
And after the two came up close for the traditional face-off, Eubank Jr let his emotions get the better of him, nearly knocking Benn to the ground with his left hand and throwing an egg at him simultaneously. Members from both teams and security quickly jumped in to separate the pair and diffuse the situation.
