Choke's on you: Twitter reacts to abysmal Protea showing against the Netherlands
The Proteas crashed out of the T20 World Cup in Australia on Sunday after a 13-run defeat to the Netherlands. In a game where a win would have seen them qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, the Proteas failed to chase 159.
Naturally, fans took to Twitter following the costly defeat, with the dreaded "chokers" tag a common theme.
The bar is low (or sky high, depending on how you view it) in this category but that is the worst choke at any ICC World Cup by the Proteas.
Wake up, check twitter and see the result of proteas match ?? pic.twitter.com/HHp00P1o5x
I keep trying to convince people that South Africa's chokers tag is wrong, it is based on a very small sample.South Africa keep responding by increasing the sample size.
South Africa are the ultimate chokers. They just can’t do anything right in ICC events. #SAvsNED #T20WorldCup
Silently sipping my beer as my South African friends realise they're watching another classic Protea choke.... #T20WorldCuppic.twitter.com/vSPUaPf7pM
THE PROTEAS DID WHAT????????????????????????????????????
It is an old story. Proteas don't want pressure games, they choke, and this is not the first world cup they choked. Test cricket has no pressure, they can convince you there
Chokers living up to their name, at least they consitant in disappointing everyone #Proteas #SAvNED
