China's Eileen Gu wins gold in women's Olympic halfpipe final, Canadian Amy Fraser 4th

China's Eileen Gu repeated as the Olympic gold-medal winner in women's freeski halfpipe on Sunday at the Milano Cortina Winter Games.

Gu put down a final fun of 94.75 to claim here second consecutive title in the event. It's the third medal win for Gu at these Games and sixth of her career, improving upon her title as the most-decorated women's freeski athete of all time.

Fellow Chinese skier Li Fanghui (93.00) claimed silver while Great Britain's Zoe Atkin (92.50) rounded out the podium in bronze-medal position.

Canada's Amy Fraser finished just off the podium in fourth place.

The 30-year-old from Calgary put down a first run of 85.10 points that had her in second place after the first run and improved with an 88.00-point performance in the third and final run.

Fellow Canadian Rachael Karker, who won bronze in the event at Beijing 2022, finished in seventh place following a second run score of 79.50.

Cassie Sharpe, of Comox, B.C., suffered a concussion during a crash in qualifying on Thursday and the Beijing 2022 silver medallist was not medically cleared for the final.
