Chiefs boss Baxter has 'expectations' of squad revamp when transfer window opens

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter reveals that the club will make "assessments" regarding the current squad.

In May, the 68-year-old will reach the one-year mark since returning to Naturena for a second stint as club mentor, replacing Gavin Hunt.

Following Baxter's arrival, Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung brought in ten fresh faces to the squad before the 2021/22 campaign.

The club's marquee signing, Keagan Dolly, joined from French side Montpellier, while Cole Alexander opted to leave Odisha FC from India.

Joining the duo at the Soweto giants were Phathutshedzo Nance (Stellenbosch FC), Kgaogelo Sekgota, Sifiso Hlanti, Njabulo Ngcobo (All Swallows FC), Sibusiso Mabiliso (AmaZulu FC), Thabani Dube (Richards Bay FC), Keletso Sifama (Pretoria Callies FC) and Brandon Petersen (Free agent).

Meanwhile, Amakhosi also offloaded 10 players.

Speaking to the media after a goalless draw against TS Galaxy, the Scotsman briefly touched on what will happen in the offseason.

"We do the same as everybody. We make assessments," said Baxter.

"We try and look at the successes, the ones that were not so successful, the ones we can trade, the ones we can move out, the ones we can bring in and all of that goes within the club.

"My expectations are that we will do that at the end of the season. At the moment, I've got the squad that I've got, and they are working as hard as they can."

Chiefs are currently third on the DStv Premiership standings and will return to action next weekend, 16 April, against SuperSport United.
