Cheltenham Festival LIVE races and tips from Day One of the 2025 Greatest Show on Turf

Prestbury Park is bathed in sunshine and the thousands who are descending upon this iconic racehorse have a spring in their step.

And little wonder. That’s because the 2025 edition of the Cheltenham Festival is here – and it’s poised to be bigger and better than ever.

The stage is set for seven amazing races to be played out across the rolling Cotswold landscape as the likes of equine behemoths Constitution Hill and Stateman go hoof to hoof in the 4:00 Unibet Champion Hurdle.

Can Constitution Hill reclaim his crown after being forced to miss last year’s race though injury? Not only did he win the race in 2023, but he holds the course record here after his astonishing win in the Supreme Novices the previous year.

Last year’s victor State Man opposes Nicky Henderson’s runner again, but the real threat this time comes from precocious mare Brighterdaysahead. She thumped State Man by thirty lengths in the Irish Champion Hurdle last time out and gets a handy 7lbs mares’ allowance today.

But that’s not the end or even the start of the mouthwatering action during this wonderful week that culminates in Friday’s Gold Cup.

But back to today’s drama. You can follow racing result, news, views and previews as well as the best tips from the likes of Garry Owen from this morning and right through the day.

So let’s not hang about any longer. Stick the telly on, grab your copy of the Daily Record and follow it all here LIVE with our racing expert, Andy Jones.

Willie Mullins has won this race an astonishing seven times!

He runs six runners in this year’s race - including the short-priced favourite Kopek Des Bordes. He also runs Funiculi Funicula, Irancy, Karbau, Karniquet and Salvator Mundi.

How many of his other Supreme winners did you
