Cheltenham 2-1 Sunderland ratings as the Black Cats crash to a third straight defeat
Managerless Sunderland's disatrous run continued as the Black Cats' 2-1 reverse at Cheltenham Town saw them crash to a third straight defeat.
Alex Pritchard put Sunderland ahead with a free-kick on the half-hour, but deflected goals from Elliott Bonds and Alfie May in the final half-hour turned the game on its head.
The Black Cats have now suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at Bolton which cost head coach Lee Johnson his job, a 2-1 defeat against basement side Doncaster at the weekend, and now this defeat against a side in the lower reaches of the table.
Here's how James Hunter rated the Sunderland players.
Didn't do much wrong and was unfortunate to be beaten by two deflected goals
Strong in the first half on his debut but faded in the second
A couple of good blocks and headers in the first half but Sunderland needed him to be a leader in the second period
Did well in the first half but creaked under pressure after the break
A better left-back than a wingback
Controlled the game in the first half but went missing in the second
Impressed on his first start for 45 minutes but went downhill fast in the second
Brought one save out of Evans in the first half but otherwise made little impact
Scored a brilliant free-kick and was Sunderland's most creative player
An exciting first half on his first start for the club and had a couple of half-chances
Worked hard but the closest he came to scoring was when he hit the sidenetting in the second half
For Dajaku 75mins
For Clarke 80mins
For Evans 84mins
