Chelsea vs Manchester United set for late kick-off time

Manchester United are still in the dark over the kick-off time for their Premier League fixture at Chelsea next month.

The Premier League confirmed last month the game would take place on Saturday October 22 but failed to provide a kick-off time. Sources at United say they are still awaiting clarification from the Premier League as to when the game will start.

The revised fixture times and dates released by the Premier League on Tuesday included the matchweeks in November before the World Cup starts yet United's game at Chelsea was missing from the list.

Tottenham's home game with Newcastle on the same weekend was thought to have caused a hold-up to the Chelsea-United kick-off time yet Spurs' match has been moved to Sunday October 23 at 4.30pm.

The 5.30pm slot that is allocated to Sky Sports remains vacant even though Sky have already announced they are showing the Chelsea-United fixture.

An 8pm kick-off time was discussed before Tottenham-Newcastle was moved to the Sunday. The issue has arisen from Amazon Prime showing matches across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night in midweek. United host Spurs on October 19 at 8.15pm.

The Saturday lunchtime game between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool at the City Ground on the same day kicks off at 12.30pm and will be broadcast live by BT Sport.

United are already awaiting new dates for their postponed league games away at Crystal Palace and at home to Leeds United.

The earliest United could play either of the matches is between their Boxing Day home game against Nottingham Forest and away fixture at Wolves at the end of December.
