Chelsea begin their pre-season schedule tonight with a game against Club America during the early hours of Sunday morning, UK time.

While the opening portion of the summer transfer window proved frustrating for supporters, Thomas Tuchel has finally welcomed Raheem Sterling into his squad and the England international has since been joined by Kalidou Koulibaly.

Last season rather fizzled out for Tuchel but the German has spoken about feeling refreshed ahead of the first season of the club’s new era.

Clearly, not too much can be taken from pre-season friendlies, but Chelsea could certainly do with displaying some of the urgency and energy that made Tuchel’s first few months in the job such a success.
