Chelsea transfer news: Barcelona want to sign Rudiger, Christensen and Azpilicueta

Transfer insider Dean Jones has revealed that there is interest in three Chelsea players from Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spanish club are eyeing up deals for three defenders, Jones says, with their eyes fixed on Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Cesar Azpilicueta.

They have a great deal of uncertainty surrounding some of their very best defensive players.

Rudiger, Christensen, and Azpilicueta all remain key players under Thomas Tuchel, but their contracts are all set to expire at the end of the season.

Indeed, Rudiger has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, even scoring three goals and laying on four assists.

By comparison,  Christensen has played 21 times in all competitions, while Azpilicueta, who often captains the side, has made 27 appearances. In total, the Spaniard has made 456 appearances for the club.

All three, though, are into the final six months of their contracts and that means that they are free to speak with foreign clubs should they so wish.

And Jones claims that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on developments and could potentially move for one, if not all three, of the players in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, reports suggest that the Catalan club have entered into immense financial difficulties, so free transfers may work as a way for them to strengthen the squad.

And Jones believes that they could look to capitalise on the fact that Chelsea have yet to strike contractual agreements with any of the centre-backs as yet.
