Chelsea summer deal a 'total waste of time' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea outcast Denis Zakaria’s move to Stamford Bridge has been ‘a total waste of time’ and the switch from Juventus has not paid off, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Blues spent more than £250million during the summer transfer window and the defensive midfielder was among the fresh faces to head to the capital.

Zakaria made a deadline day move to Chelsea, joining on an initial season-long loan which has the option of being made permanent.

However, it seems the 42-cap Switzerland international’s days in west London are already numbered and he could make a quickfire exit.

That is because, according to 90min, Chelsea are looking to terminate Zakaria’s loan in January and a return to parent club Juventus is on the cards.

The report suggests the 25-year-old, who had already made two Serie A appearances during the early stages of the campaign, does not feature in Blues head coach Graham Potter's plans but Juventus do not have an obligation to take him back ahead of schedule.

Zakaria has not even made his Chelsea debut yet and has failed to be included in a single matchday squad in the Premier League.

Jones believes Chelsea made a mistake in luring Zakaria to Stamford Bridge and it has been a frustrating experience for the former Borussia Monchengladbach man.

The journalist feels the capital club should have turned their attentions elsewhere during the final stages of the summer transfer window.
