Chelsea sale: Fans send clear message to new owners on what they must deliver after takeover
While football has done most of the talking for Chelsea in the past few weeks, the questions surrounding the next owner at the club are still hanging in the air, creating uncertainty over the direction of the side for the future. Raine Bank, who are in charge of assessing the bids from prospective owners, have managed to narrow the options down to a select few before they choose a preferred bidder for the club.
Among them are consortia led by ex-Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton; LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly; as well as American private equity investor Stephen Pagliuca. There is also the owners of the Chicago Cubs, the Ricketts Family, rounding out the list of options for Raine to pick from.
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has given his blessing to whoever comes in, stating last month: “It is a huge amount of money, that’s why I am also confident because I think if somebody buys a club for this kind of money then it’s about challenging at the highest kind of level, then it’s about trophies, then it’s about winning and it’s about being the best you can. It's not about developing a project, it's not about making money with the club."
