Chelsea's Reece James produced sublime first touch in 2-1 win vs Palace

Reece James helped Graham Potter achieve his first Premier League victory as Chelsea manager last Saturday afternoon.

The marauding right-back was one of the best players on the pitch as the Blues came from 1-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

Odsonne Edouard put the hosts ahead in just the eighth minute of play, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled things prior to the half-time interval with an instinctive finish.

Chelsea fans then had to wait until the dying embers of the derby match to watch their team secure victory, although it was certainly worth the wait.

Conor Gallagher – who enjoyed a hugely successful spell on loan at Palace last season – scored an absolute stunner from range to earn the west London club three much-needed points.

It certainly wasn’t a vintage Chelsea performance overall, but they got the job done.

James was certainly one of the individual standouts, though.

The England right-back was the main reason why Wilfried Zaha was unable to impact the game from his position on the left.

And late in the second half of proceedings, James proved once again that he has outrageous technical ability to go with his defensive nous.

The 22-year-old produced a first touch under pressure that was so good it prompted the commentators to compare him to both Cesc Fabregas and Juan Mata.
