Chelsea's Money Could Run Out In Just 17 Days Time

Chelsea will ask the government to allow them to be sold from Roman Abramovich, with the club in danger of running out of money.

The news means that they can't buy or sell players, even renew contracts and they can't even sell tickets for matches, or merchandise.

Whilst a 'general licence' has allowed them to continue to operate in order to play matches, and play players, the fact the club can't currently be sold could lead to some huge issues.

With no money able to come into the team, and without Abramovich being able to sell, they could in theory be out of money in just 17 days time.

The club are set to hold conversations with the government of the terms of their general licence and are hoping to have it amended, to help them run more normally.

At the moment, the lack of ticket sales means that only season ticket holders can go to games, which also excludes away supporters from visiting Stamford Bridge.

The 55-year-old is said to want around £3-4 billion in order to sell the European champions, who he's owned since 2003 and won five Premier League titles with.

He has reportedly waived the £1.5 billion the club owe him and said that the 'net profit' of any sale would go to the 'victims' of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
