Kepa Arrizabalaga has broken his silence after his penalty miss saw Chelsea lose the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool.
After a bitterly close 120 minutes of football at Wembley on Sunday, the two Premier League giants ended goalless, meaning a penalty shootout would be required to find a winner.
But even the shootout was neck-and-neck, with neither missing a single penalty for almost an entire run through of their on-field players.
With the scores locked at 10-10, Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher dispatched his spot kick, meaning the substituted-on Kepa needed to bury his.
However, the £71million man, who has become known for his shootout antics, completely fluffed his lines and sent the ball several rows back into the stands.
Understandably, Kepa was distraught as the Liverpool players celebrated their first piece of silverware since winning the Premier League a little under two years ago.
The Spaniard did not speak after the game, but has since broken his silence on social media, thanking the players and fans for their support.
"To fall and rise," he wrote on Twitter.
"Disappointed after big effort during the tournament.
"We keep working.
"Thanks @chelseafc family for your support."
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel bore the brunt of the blame for Kepa's miss, insisting Kepa knew the plan that was in place.
"Do you think we do this and don't talk to the players? The players know the plan and we have done it before,' said
