Chelsea: 'Outstanding' 47 y/o has 'most potential to succeed' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea target Graham Potter has the most potential to succeed if he replaces Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Blues are looking for a new manager after Tuchel was sacked, with the Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday proving his final game in charge.

Despite the embarrassing result in Zagreb in their Champions League opener, David Ornstein claimed that Todd Boehly’s decision had already been made prior to Chelsea’s trip to Croatia.

Tuchel won the Champions League in his first season, before reaching both domestic cup finals and guided the Blues to another top four finish last term.

Chelsea have started this campaign in underwhelming form, though, suffering defeats to Southampton and Leeds and have already slipped five points behind leaders Arsenal.

But the decision comes less than seven days after the transfer window closed and Tuchel was allowed to spend more than £250m on bringing the likes of Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s search for a replacement is already underway and Jones reckons that Potter, who’s been earning rave reviews for his exceptional work at Brighton, would be best-placed to achieve success.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “As a Premier League option Potter has the most potential to succeed but he will need to be careful about his next step, he has to pick the right club.

“I think his concern is how much time he would get to implement his philosophy. That’s what I’ve been told before.”

Potter started his career in the dugout back in 2011 when he became boss of Swedish side Ostersund.
