Goals from Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner saw the Blues take a 3-0 lead, but a late finish from Vinicius Junior meant the clash went to extra-time. Karim Benzema then scored his fourth goal of the tie to break Chelsea's hearts.

Chelsea have been backed to sign Borussia Dortmund pair Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham in the summer by former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson. It comes as the Blues prepare for a potentially busy summer transfer window ahead.

Speaking to Bettingodds.com, the ex-England international said: “If Chelsea get the money that they need, I’d like them to get Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland. They’re both going to be super, super expensive.

“It just depends on what they can get for Lukaku. If he goes, you’re not going to get anywhere near the £97.5m they paid for him from Inter Milan.

“It would be an extremely tough deal to do. If you’re talking about just strikers however, then I’d like Haaland to come in to replace any outgoing forwards.”
