Chelsea 'more likely to sell' £70m star after Roman Abramovich exit

Chelsea‘s new owners are more likely to sell players like Armando Broja than keep them, says journalist Paul Brown.

The west London club are set to be taken over following Roman Abramovich’s decision to sell up, and Brown believes that development is likely to have ramifications on the futures of those out on loan.

According to Goal, a Saudi private consortium led by Saudi Media is one of the latest parties to register an interest in buying Chelsea.

Elsewhere, The Telegraph has reported that another consortium, which is being spearheaded by Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly, has launched its bid for the European champions.

In total, as per Sky Sports, there are thought to be up to 10 parties who are all keen on acquiring Chelsea, with Chicago Cubs chairman Thomas Ricketts and Turkish businessman Muhsin Bayrak two other names who have been mentioned.

Brown thinks Broja, who is currently out on loan at Southampton, and other players in a similar position to the 20-year-old, are more likely to be sold than kept under the new Chelsea regime.

The Daily Star journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “Because of the Abramovich situation at Chelsea, it’s very difficult to predict now what they’ll do in the transfer market.

“If they have a new owner by then, will he think that it is worth cashing in on people like Broja? I would say a new owner at Chelsea is more likely to sell those kind of players than to keep them on.”
