Chelsea legend Zola tips Real Madrid as perfect fit for Osimhen

Nigeria and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Legendary Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola believes Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen would be a perfect fit for La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Osimhen made his second appearance against Madrid on Wednesday night since returning from injury.

The top scorer in Serie A has been linked with some of Europe’s heavyweights.

Reports about a move away from Napoli intensified following his spat with the club following a controversial TikTok video.

Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been reported to have indicated interest.

Talks about an exit are still on especially as the January transfer window is fast approaching.

Zola believes Osimhen, alongside Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland, would be a good signing for Madrid.

“There are many big names such as Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and even Osimhen, who I see as a perfect fit for Real Madrid,” Zola said in an interview on kooora.com before Wednesday’s Champions League game.

“Mbappe is slightly different from Haaland, and I don’t think Manchester City will let Haaland leave easily.

“I might choose Mbappe, given his talent and personality, he is the right fit, but he is more of a winger than a striker, so in my opinion Haaland or Osimhen would be better as they are classic centre forwards. Every coach has his own vision.”

Osimhen has scored six goals in nine Serie A games this season.

He finished top scorer in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers with 10 goals and will hope to stay fit for the tournament, after missing the 2021 edition in Cameroon through injury.
