Chelsea: Lauren & Reece James set to become first brother and sister to play for England
Lauren and Reece James are set to become the first brother and sister to ever play for the England national team.
Uncapped forward Lauren has been called up to Sarina Wiegman’s latest squad for the Lionesses’ World Cup qualifiers in September.
The 20-year-old received her first senior national team call-up back in November 2020 but did not make an appearance.
Both Lauren and Reece play for Chelsea, with Reece having come up through the club’s youth system, while Lauren was signed from Man United last year.
Reece, who is two years older than his sister, has 13 caps for Gareth Southgate’s England side and was part of the squad that made the final of Euro 2020.
The FA does not have an official women’s football historian, but the Times reports that the two would be the first siblings of different genders to play for England at senior level.
