Chelsea goalkeeper questions legitimacy of Covid outbreak at Spurs

Wednesday’s Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur was called off just three hours before kick off due to a reported outbreak of Covid-19 cases in the Spurs camp.

Both London clubs released statements confirming a number of Tottenham players had returned positive coronavirus tests.

While Covid cases continue to affect sport and has become somewhat of a norm, the legitimacy over this occasion has been questioned.

Chelsea goalkeeper Zećira Mušović took to Twitter following the news to air her thoughts on the situation.

“Doesn’t make sense to me how a game can be postponed due to a number of Covid-19 [cases] that close to kick-off,” the Swedish international wrote. “Something clearly must have went wrong here. Enough players at 12pm but not at 4pm, hmmmm…”
