Chelsea: Female stars could leave for free after Roman Abramovich sanctioned

The sale of Chelsea Football Club has been halted after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government this morning.

The Russian oligarch has had his assets frozen due to his “close relationship” with President Vladimir Putin, which has hindered the running of Chelsea, as well as Abramovich’s attempts to sell up.

The club can fund the hosting of home games, but may not exceed £500,000.

Away day travel is also permitted, but cannot exceed £20,000.
