Chelsea: Emma Hayes suggested as Thomas Tuchel's replacement by Richard Keys

Chelsea recently shocked the football world by sacking Thomas Tuchel after the club fell to a disappointing 1-0 away loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

The Blues have suffered an underwhelming start to the 2022/2023 season and it seems like the results on the pitch, as well several other key factors that we reported on HERE, have cost Tuchel his job.

It’s a results business but even by Chelsea’s standards it seems like a pretty harsh removal, especially after they splashed out the best part of £260 million on supposedly Tuchel players a matter of weeks ago.

Nevertheless, the German’s removal has posed questions as to who will be his successor because, as ever, the show must go on.

The early front-runner seems like Graham Potter – who BBC Sport are reporting will hold talks with the Chelsea board over the coming days about the job.

An alternative name that’s been tossed into the hat is Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine excelled when managing in the Premier League at Southampton and Tottenham.

But TV Presenter Richard Keys believes that Chelsea should be looking to hire internally – more specifically, the head coach of Chelsea Women, Emma Hayes.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, Keys said: “I wonder if anyone at Chelsea has considered Emma Hayes for the vacancy running the men’s team?

“She knows the club as well as anyone. Her coaching is impeccable.

“After the Lioness success this summer, what a statement it would be.”
