Chelsea: Dismal £8 cauliflower dish at Stamford Bridge savaged on Twitter

Chelsea fans endured a painful evening at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening as a Karim Benzema-inspired Real Madrid put the Blues to the sword in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

It took the prolific Frenchman just 21 minutes either side of half-time to bag a hat-trick in west London as Thomas Tuchel’s men slumped to a 3-1 defeat.

A pair of sublime headed goals from Benzema capped a great first period for Real – before the striker pounced on an error from Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy at the start of the second-half to secure the match ball.

The result leaves holders Chelsea facing elimination from this season’s competition unless they can produce some serious heroics in the Spanish capital during the return leg next Tuesday.

The clinical nature of Benzema’s Man of the Match performance left the Chelsea faithful in stunned silence, but it wasn’t the only occasion during the evening where some Blues fans were caught off guard.

Prior to the match, an image of a portion of ‘cauliflower wings’ being sold at the catering kiosks at Stamford Bridge was posted to the popular Twitter account @FootyScran.

Known for showcasing the best and worst of the food offered at stadiums around the world, this offering from Chelsea of just five pieces of fried cauliflower with four celery sticks definitely falls into the underwhelming category.

Its £7.95 price tag doesn’t do much to help its cause, either. You can check out the uninspiring dish for yourself below.
