Chelsea can repeat Liverpool's Luis Diaz transfer plan with Tuchel's £19m Mason Mount heir

Conor Gallagher has already done enough to prove he belongs in Thomas Tuchel's first-team plans next season.

The 22-year-old midfielder, currently on loan at Crystal Palace, has thrived in the Premier League this season for the Eagles.

Seven Premier League goals in 21 appearances have helped him gain admirers and created an expectation that Chelsea and Tuchel are willing to see talent blossom at Stamford Bridge rather than somewhere else.

The German's own highly complementary views on the Cobham graduate detail as much when he's been asked about Gallagher's development in south London.

"We love Conor. We are convinced about him," was Tuchel's latest remarks when asked in December.

"We took the decision for Conor because when we looked at the midfield - Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante - he was considered number four in the group.

"Conor knew this all the way. An opportunity came up where he could clearly see more minutes and more responsibility."

Tuchel has also praised his energy and work rate, two things that are essential to his system.

Gallagher's return gives Chelsea a chance to replicate one of their rivals transfer strategies.

Liverpool have proven to be a club with good forward planning and the ability to mould a competent squad that suits Jurgen Klopp's style of play.

The signing of Luis Diaz from Porto in January proved this once more as the Merseyside club look beyond their current attacking lineup, or aim to widen their current options.

Given their track record with players, there will be a plan for Diaz under Klopp and how he will be integrated into their clear system.
