Chelsea: Boehly 'concerned' about 'phenomenal' £32m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and the rest of the west London club’s board will be concerned with N’Golo Kante‘s injury record, says journalist Simon Phillips.

The French midfielder has only played two games this season because of a thigh problem and also missed a host of matches last term after hurting his knee and groin.

According to Foot Mercato, there is little chance of Kante staying at Chelsea beyond this campaign despite the 31-year-old wishing to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Kante is now into the final 12 months of his contract, meaning he could leave Graham Potter’s side next summer on a free transfer.

In fact, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has claimed that Kante has already been offered to Arsenal and Tottenham, with the France international thought to be keen on remaining in London.

A move to Tottenham would, of course, see the player reunite with former manager Antonio Conte, who brought him to Stamford Bridge in a £32m deal (via Sky Sports) back in 2016.

Because of his injury record, Phillips thinks Kante, who was closing in on a return to first-team action before a setback, has become a bit of a problem for Chelsea.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Kante’s general injury history in recent times is concerning for the Chelsea board regardless of the last games.

“He missed four to five weeks out injured before even returning to group training, so in terms of match fitness, that was always going to take longer.”
