Cheetahs get out the cheque book with several contract extensions
The Cheetahs on Wednesday announced that seven promising youngsters had extended their contracts at the union.
Flyhalves Siya Masuku and Reinhardt Fortuin, centres David Brits and Evardi Boshoff, fullback Cohen Jasper, winger Daniel Kasende and scrumhalf Brenden de Kock have all extended their stays in Bloemfontein.
In addition, the Cheetahs also secured the services of four new players who will join in November.
Locks Mzwanele Zito and Siba Qoma and winger Munier Hartzenberg will join from Griquas, while wing/fullback Siba Xhamlashe has signed from Western Province, and Marko Janse van Rensburg from US Major League Rugby outfit Rugby ATL.
These announcements follow the news earlier in the week that the Cheetahs had lured two overseas-based recruits.
No 8 Friedle Olivier signed a two-year deal from Russian Rugby Premier League outfit Enisei-STM, while prop Hencus van Wyk will return to the Cheetahs after a stint at San Diego Legion in the United States.
Hooker Louis van der Westhuizen, lock Victor Sekekete, and flankers Gideon van der Merwe and Jeandre Rudolph also extended their contracts.
