Sunday will see the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams compete against each other at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, for the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Indeed, Super Bowl LVI is one that certainly has all of the ingredients to be extremely exciting and we will all be waiting with a high level of anticipation for the game to kickoff.

Many of us will be hoping that they are as iconic as the five that we have picked out below, although we understand that this is a rather opinionated list and one that might not necessarily have everyone in agreement.

Let’s take a look at five iconic Super Bowl matches to have taken place in no particular order:

Super Bowl 42 (2008): Giants 17, Patriots 14

Super Bowl 42 (Super Bowl XLII) will be considered iconic for many as it saw the New York Giants stop one of the most hated teams in the NFL from achieving a perfect season. There is no doubt that the New England Patriots managed to create a dynasty under the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era, but they did attract plenty of hate/jealousy/envy for it.

The Patriots had entered the game 16-0 in the regular season and were looking to become the second team in history to go unbeaten all year, joining the 1972 Miami Dolphins. However, the Giants had something to say about it as Eli Manning avoided multiple sacks on the same play to find David Tyree for the classic helmet catch that would go on to set up the game-winning drive for Plaxico Burress’ touchdown reception.
