Charlton player reacts after sealing Swindon move

Charlton Athletic striker Josh Davison has said he is ‘buzzing’ after joining Swindon Town on loan.

The 22-year-old will join The Reds for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign as Swindon seek an immediate return to League One.

“I’m buzzing to be here and part of the team and I just want to kick on now,” Davison said via the Swindon Town club website.

“I needed game time, the team is doing well, I know a couple of the lads and they play good football. I’ve watched a few of their games on TV and it appealed to me straightaway when the opportunity came.”

“I want to score goals and help the team as much as I can. I’m strong and quick, I like to hold the ball up and get in the box and score some goals.” added Davison.

Davison has scored five goals in 23 appearances for Charlton this season, but has struggled to gain a regular starting place for the League One outfit.

Having begun his career with Peterborough United, Davison had loan spells with St Neots Town and Wisbech Town before being released by Posh.

It was after being released by Peterborough that Davison caught Charlton’s eye, when he scored 16 goals in 21 appearances for non-league Enfield Town.

After impressing on trial for The Addicks, the striker signed a short term deal at the club and went on to make his full debut just a week later in a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, scoring his first goal in the process.

Struggling for game time at Charlton, Davison spent the majority of last season out on loan, first at Woking in the National League, and then at Forest Green Rovers in League Two.

This season he has featured a number of times for Charlton, but has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting 11.
