Charlton Athletic get welcome injury boost involving long-term absentee

Charlton Athletic midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey is back playing football this afternoon and it took him no time at all to get back among the goals.

One of the stars of last season for the Addicks, Forster-Caskey picked up an ACL injury towards the end of the 20/21 campaign and has been missing ever since.

In that time, of course, we’ve seen Nigel Adkins replaced by Johnnie Jackson as manager and Charlton have gone through a pretty mediocre season, with them surely looking forward to drawing a line under this campaign as soon as possible.

For JFC, meanwhile, the plan will be to draw his own line under his injury setback and get back to playing football for the Addicks, with his route to a return really picking up pace now.

Indeed, he’s playing for the u23 side against Watford at the moment and got himself on the scoresheet within half a minute of the first whistle:

The Verdict

This is great news for Charlton and great news for the player himself.

He’s been through a very difficult period in the last year but is coming through the other side and it appears in some style.

He won’t be rushed back, of course, as Charlton cannot risk aggravating things but getting good minutes for the u23s in the next few weeks could lead him to playing for the senior side before the season comes to an end.
