Charlie Cresswell determined to make impression during Millwall loan after leaving Leeds United

Charlie Cresswell believes his switch to Millwall will provide the opportunities needed to take the next step in his fledging career. The centre-back has signed a season-long loan deal with the Championship outfit and he’ll be aiming to secure regular game time for the Lions.

Cresswell made five Premier League appearances for Leeds United last season, but he remains down the pecking order and he was far from guaranteed game time at Elland Road under Jesse Marsch. As such, he has been allowed to leave the club to pick up some valuable senior experience under Gary Rowett in south London.

The 19-year-old has already trained with the second tier side and he’s keen to make a real impression at The Den.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Cresswell told Millwall’s official website. “I’m going to be giving my all for this club and for this moment in time I’m a Millwall player, I’ll do everything I can to help this club and I’m sure I’ll show you that.

“I think I’m a player who brings a lot of determination and aggression, I always give 100 per cent and I’ll try my very best. I think Millwall is a good club to learn at, it comes with a lot of pressure and expectation and I think that’s what I need and I’m looking forward to getting going.

“I’m looking forward to it, I’ve heard what they (the fans) are about and I’m looking forward to getting out there and showing what I can do.”

Millwall aren’t short of experienced figures on the coaching staff for Cresswell to learn from as he gets to work under Rowett, himself a former defender, ex-Leeds full-back Paul Robinson and Adam Barrett, formerly of Southend United and Bristol Rovers.
