Charlie Adam in Scotland U21 squad dig but favouritism theory falls flat after Dundee teammate's selection

Charlie Adam reckons Dundee star Max Anderson was snubbed for Scotland U21s because of the club he plays for.

However it was quickly pointed out to the midfielder that his teammate Zak Rudden did make the cut for the UEFA U21 Euro qualifiers against Turkey and Kazakhstan.

Scot Gemmill's squad features players from 19 different clubs with ten teams from up and down the SPFL represented.

Dundee United 's Ross Graham earned his first call-up as did Aberdeen's Conor Barron and Ross County's Jack Burroughs in a diverse-looking 22-player group.

Adam though wasn't happy at the exclusion of Dundee 's breakout star Anderson and vented his frustrations on Twitter.

He wrote: "No Max Anderson," before adding: "Played 25 league games this season and you have lads that have played 5 in ahead of him."

Adam appeared to be alluding to the likes of Marc Leonard and Harrison Ashby earning call-ups despite barely featuring for Premier League sides Brighton and West Ham respectively this season.

He later added: "Definitely picked on what club they're at."

But it was quickly pointed out to Adam that there can't be too much bias against Dundee, because their striker Zak Rudden is in the squad.

One fan commented: "Zak Rudden is in the squad as well Charlie. He’s the lad that plays up front for your team."
