Charles Leclerc outlines Ferrari target that could seal F1 world championship in 2022

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc says that 5 race wins could be enough for the Scuderia to win the world championship this coming campaign in Formula 1.

The 2022 season is fast approaching now with Bahrain testing underway this weekend and then the first Grand Prix, again in Bahrain, of the season taking place the following weekend.

It’s an exciting time for the sport, too, with new rules and regulations coming into play and many believe that Ferrari could be one of the teams to benefit most from the changes.

Certainly, it sounds as though Charles Leclerc believes race victories could be attained this season and, if they can get around 5 on the board and show consistency at other races, he believes a title challenge could be put together.

Speaking to Canal Sports Club in France, the Monegasque explained:

“The last two years have been complicated.

“Ferrari is always under great pressure. But we react well as a team and we have also prepared well for the new rules.

“Achieving five wins would already be great. If we are consistent, we can become World Champions with five wins.”

Of course, last year both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton won more races than that but if the sport does see the likes of McLaren and Ferrari in the mix as well as Red Bull and Mercedes, 5 wins could potentially be enough to take the title.

Scuderia fans, at least, will be hoping that that is the case.
