Charities win as Dan Ngerem Foundation holds tourney

The less privileged were the winners at the recent Nigeria versus International Community Golf Tournament sponsored by the Dan Ngerem Foundation at Ikoyi Club at the weekend.

The yearly golf tournament, which brings golfers together to play for charity, had in attendance football legend, Segun Odegbami, who won N1 million to be donated to charity courtesy of the Dan Ngerem Foundation.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who also played in the tournament, donated to the four nominated charities.

Speaking at the end of the competition, Captain, Ikoyi Club, Golf Section, Dr. Innocent Okoro, said the event is aimed at fostering global unity, saying it was exciting seeing golfers, who are giants of industry, come together for a good cause.

Earlier, founder of the Dan Ngerem Foundation and lead sponsor of the tournament, Dan Ngerem, said the event has identified key charity organisations that have served as advocates for causes, ranging from youth empowerment to girl/child education.

He added that it is only proper to associate with such a noble cause for a better world for all.

A representative of one of the benefiting charities, Chioma Ajunwa, expressed her gratitude to the organisers of the tournament.

She said it was a great deal for her to see golf bringing high net worth Individuals together for charity, adding that she is excited by the number of lives the event would touch.
