Championship wrap: Molumby brace secure West Brom win

West Brom kept their play-off hopes alive as they came from behind to edge a fiery Midlands derby and defeat Stoke 2-1 thanks to a brace from Jayson Molumby.

Jacob Brown handed the hosts the lead when he headed home an accurate Morgan Fox cross on the half-hour mark.

Carlos Corberan’s visitors emerged for the second period with the wind in their sails, with Molumby levelling shortly before the hour mark.

And the Republic of Ireland international completed the turnaround with his second strike, securing West Brom a first away victory in eight matches on their travels.

Sheffield United came from behind to thrash Cardiff 4-1 and maintain second place.

Sory Kaba's penalty had put Cardiff in front, but James McAtee levelled before the break.

The Blades pulled clear in the second half through goals from Jack Robinson, Iliman Ndiaye and Ciaran Clark to leave Cardiff in the relegation fight.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side sit five points clear of Luton, who were 2-0 winners at Rotherham to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games.

Carlton Morris broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time before Cauley Woodrow turned home the rebound after seeing his penalty saved shortly after the restart.

Leaders Burnley had secured immediate promotion back to the top-flight last week, but were held to a goalless draw by managerless Reading, which boosts their bid to get out of the relegation zone.

Millwall maintained their play-off push with a 2-0 victory over Preston.

Tom Bradshaw’s header had put the hosts in front before Zian Flemming’s fine finish with 20 minutes left made sure of the points.

Coventry moved up to sixth with a comfortable 3-0 win at QPR, where Viktor Gyokeres hit a brace either side of a Gustavo Hamer goal.
