Championship supercomputer assesses Sheffield United's promotion chances

Sheffield United have a 12% chance of winning the Championship title in 2022/23, according to Reach's in-house supercomputer. The Blades are looking to improve on last season's fifth-placed finish, before they were beaten on penalties in the play-off semi-final by Nottingham Forest.

Only three teams have a better chance of winning the league than Paul Heckingbottom's side, according to the supercomputer. Recently-relegated Burnley have been given a 36% chance of lifting the title, which is more than double the chance of any of their rivals. Norwich and Watford are the next favourites, with a 15% chance each.

However, with two teams going up automatically in the Championship, Blades fans would be more than happy to finish as runners-up. The supercomputer states that Sheffield United have a 25% chance of finishing in the top two. Meanwhile, Burnley have a 56% chance of finishing in the top two.

Norwich have a 31% chance of bouncing straight back to the Premier League, Watford a 30% chance, Huddersfield a 13% chance, Preston a 10% chance, and Luton an 8% chance.

The supercomputer says that the Blades' most likely outcome is another play-off finish, with a 38% chance of finishing between third and sixth. Sunderland are the favourites to go down to League One, with a 65% chance of going straight back down.

Bristol City have a 53% chance of joining them, Birmingham a 48% chance, Reading a 39% chance, and Wigan a 19% chance.
