Championship round-up: Plymouth record first win under Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney celebrated his first win as Plymouth boss after skipper Joe Edwards' stoppage-time effort clinched a 3-2 victory to halt Sunderland’s winning start.

Edwards lashed home a rebound in the third minute of added time after Romaine Mundle’s late equaliser appeared to have earned Sunderland a point.

Daniel Ballard’s own goal and Ryan Hardie’s penalty had seen Plymouth come back from behind after Patrick Roberts’ first-half penalty for the Black Cats.

It was the Pilgrims’ first league win under Rooney, who was appointed manager in May, while Sunderland remain top of the table.
