Championship: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's late double sees Leicester come back to beat Coventry

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struck a late double as Leicester came from behind to beat Coventry 2-1 in their Championship opener at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes were relegated from the Premier League last season, with new boss Enzo Maresca taking charge of his first competitive match.

Coventry – beaten on penalties by Luton in the Championship play-off final – took the lead early in the second half through Kyle McFadzean’s close-range header.

However, Dewsbury-Hall headed the hosts level in the 77th minute and then curled in a fine effort to complete the turnaround with just three minutes left.

Newly-promoted Ipswich marked their return to the Championship with a 2-1 win at Sunderland, who finished with ten men.

The Tractor Boys took the lead just before half-time when former Sunderland loanee Nathan Broadhead diverted in a shot from Leif Davis.

George Hirst fired home a second on the break soon after the restart, before Sunderland, who finished sixth last season, had defender Trai Hume sent off for a second caution with 18 minutes left.

Dan Neil hit a late consolation and deep into 13 minutes of added time, saw his shot saved onto a post by Ipswich keeper Vaclav Hladky as the visitors held out.

Leeds had earlier fought back from 2-0 down against Cardiff to snatch a 2-2 draw through Crysencio Summerville’s stoppage-time equaliser at Elland Road.
