Celtic transfer news: Postecoglou checking out Kenya international left-back Erick Otieno
Celtic are being tipped to land another Swedish-based player, with left-back Erick Otieno apparently catching the eye of boss Ange Postecoglou.
The 25-year-old Kenyan international plays for AIK and has a very similar profile to that of another Bhoys target in Hammarby star Mohaned Jeahze.
Greg Taylor largely held down the Celtic -left-back spot during the second half of the season. However, Postecoglou wants more competition for places as the Glasgow club look to defend their Scottish Premiership title next term.
Fotboll Direkt reports Celtic’s interest in the talented defender, with the Swedish season currently midway through.
Postecoglou is expected to bolster his squad early in the season, although no Champions League qualifiers this summer means they can afford to wait a little longer for their top targets.
The Bhoys will receive a huge financial boost from going straight into the group stage of the competition. And Postecoglou wants to bring in players who are ready-made for first-team football.
However, if Otieno was to sign then the likes of Boli Bolingoli and Liam Scales are expected to move on.
Otieno has so far scored one goal in 33 league appearances for AIK. He has also been capped 26 times by his country.
