Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell charged as SPFL come out swinging over 'totally unacceptable' pyro breaches

Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell have been charged by the SPFL due to totally unacceptable fan behaviour at Hampden.

The trio were part of the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals alongside Aberdeen with Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Clement set to go head to head next weekend in the showpiece after their last four victories. But before the action could get underway on the field, 'irresponsible behaviour' from a minority of fans caused a 14 minute delay to kick-off between the Hoops and Dons while the Light Blues clash with the Well 24 hours later was also subjected to a five minute delay.

Pyro has been creeping into the game more and more with SPFL, SFA and Police Scotland amongst those organisations to make it clear that the use is ILLEGAL and poses both clear danger and health and safety risks. Celtic, Motherwell and Rangers have all been issued with notices of complaint under SPFL Rule H34 and the trio will face a disciplinary hearing. Independent hearings are likely to take place early next year.

The H34 rule states: "H34 Each Club must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that: H34.1 its Players, officials, supporters and any person exercising a function for or connected with the Club do not engage in Unacceptable Conduct at a Stadium on the occasion of an Official Match; H34.2 it identifies any of its supporters who engage in Unacceptable Conduct at an Official Match; and H34.3 it takes proportionate disciplinary measures in respect of supporters so identified in terms of Rule H34.2."
