Celtic destroyed by Jason Cundy as shock jock brands them an embarrassment after racking up unwanted Champions League record

TalkSport loudmouth Jason Cundy has branded Celtic an “embarrassment” after they were dumped out of the Champions League by RB Leipzig.

Ange Postecoglou ’s side missed some big chances at Parkhead as they desperately sought to keep their hopes of progressing from Group F alive. Matt O’Riley and Greg Taylor hit the woodwork before the break while Kyogo went close with a header, but somehow the score remained golalles at the interval.

But the Bundesliga outfit showed them how it was done with 15 minutes to go. Former Chelsea flop Timo Werner broke the deadlock with a fine header before Emil Forsberg hammered the final nail into the Hoops’ coffin with a really well taken third to ensure that the Glasgow club can’t catch them in second place. Celtic still have Shakhtar and Real Madrid to play, but their head-to-head record against Marco Rose's men means that the runners up spot is beyond them.

Celtic now hold the unwanted record of losing more consecutive Champions League matches than any other side. That’s now seven defeats on the bounce. And Cundy slammed the Scottish champions for their showing, insisting that a group containing the reigning European champions wasn't the most difficult and that the Bhoys look foolish now after apparently talking up their involvement in the continent’s elite competition.

“What’s going on with Scottish football in the Champions League?” He asked on the station’s Sports Bar programme. “Celtic tonight, they really are an embarrassment, aren’t they?. They are, They step up and they give it the big ‘un, speaking about: ‘Yeah, we’re Celtic, we should be in there naturally.’

“It’s not harsh. They must be embarrassed themselves, the Celtic fans. They must be. Come on, they get their chance.
