Celtic could be handed 'lift' ahead of Old Firm derby

The absence of Aaron Ramsey, Fashion Sakala and Alfredo Morelos would be a huge boost for Celtic ahead of the Old Firm derby.

Ange Postecoglou’s side travel to their Glasgow rivals for a crunch clash in the Scottish Premiership title race and Rangers could be without three key players.

According to Ibrox News, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has a major concern over Sakala, who tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty with Zambia and is therefore self-isolating, which will make him a major doubt for the game.

Meanwhile, Morelos, who missed the 3-0 defeat at Celtic Park back in February, was recently sent home by Colombia following a muscle problem sustained, leaving him also a serious doubt to play the potential title-decider.

Ramsey was the Dutchman’s third concern after he missed Wales’ friendly against Czech Republic on Tuesday despite playing the full 90 minutes in their World Cup play-off victory over Austria last Saturday.

However, Wales manager Rob Page confirmed that the midfielder hasn’t suffered an injury and should therefore be available to face Celtic.

“There’s no injury. We have to show respect to the clubs as well. We have their players,” Page said.

O’Rourke still reckons that the possibility of being without Sakala and Morelos will still boost Celtic’s chances ahead of the game.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “When key players are missing, it’s always a lift to the opposition when they see the teamsheet, so it does give you a lift in that respect.”
