Celebrate LGBTQ+ Arts with the annual Pride in Trafford festival
It's back for its third year - with an exciting and diverse range of performers and performances from comedy and cabaret, storytelling and solo shows to photography and physical theatre. Pride in Trafford, which takes place on May 17-21, 2022, will see events held around the borough, including at the leading arts venue, Waterside.
There is a real sense of ‘coming together’ weaved through the themes, the artists and the collaborators involved in this year’s programme.
Darren Adams, Producer for Pride in Trafford and Manager of Waterside, said: “We are really thrilled with this year’s line-up for Pride in Trafford. Not just because all the events are live in person, but in terms of the themes, the artists and the collaborators involved.
"Through their work, all our performers celebrate inclusivity, love, diversity and togetherness and one thing that really stands out and encapsulates this year's programme is that our differences can unite us and that it is something to embrace and celebrate. We cannot wait to see the community back celebrating Pride in Trafford for five days of queer joy, fun and pride.”
The annual Flag Raising at Sale Town Hall will take place at 11am on Tuesday, May 17, to coincide with and mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. This event will be joined by the Leader and Chief Executive of Trafford Council, along with pupils from local schools.
Allie Crewe: Your Own Light will feature an ongoing series of portraits of transgender and non-binary people. Allie’s portraits have been met with critical acclaim and have been described as "highly rated, sincere, poignant and classical..." (Magnum) and "A terrific body of work filled with heart and empathy" by LensCulture.
