CCTV images released after man attacks victim in the head on Manchester train

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to after a person was assaulted on a train from Manchester to Stockport. British Transport Police says the victim was left with a broken front tooth, a cut lip and bruising to the head after being attacked by a man on the train.

Following the assault on April 29, the force is today (June 15) urging people to come forward as soon as possible if they recognise the man in the images, who detectives believe could be a key witness. A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Do you recognise this man?

"Detectives investigating an assault have released CCTV images in connection. At around 10pm on Saturday, April 29, on board a train travelling from Manchester Piccadilly to Stockport, the victim was assaulted by a man who was accompanied by a woman.

"The victim suffered bruising to the head, a cut lip and a broken front tooth. Detectives believe the man in the CCTV images may have information that could help their investigation."

Anyone who recognises the man in the images is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016, or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 834 of April 29, 2023. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
