CCTV appeal after man punched and left with life-changing injuries

Police have issued CCTV pictures of a man they want to speak to after a 'life-changing' attack in Manchester city centre.

Officers said a fight broke out between two groups in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, June 19 last year. During the fight, the victim - a man aged in his 20s - was punched from behind.

He fell to the floor and was knocked unconscious. The victim remains in a serious condition, police said, and has suffered life-changing injuries.

Detectives have today (February 22) released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to about the incident. Anyone who recognises him is being urged to get in touch.

Detective Constable Phillip Sargeant said: "The victims’ injuries are serious – we wish him a quick recovery and our thoughts are with his loved ones. This incident has caused great upset for his family, who seek closure.

"We hope somebody can help us identify the man in the images, who we believe has significant information that could help us understand what happened that morning.
