CCTV appeal after gang brought Metrolink and buses to standstill in £30k crime spree

Police are asking for help in tracking down three people they believe could have caused £30,000 worth of damage to Tameside’s transport network.

The damage also caused extensive disruption to tram and bus services in the area at the time. Greater Manchester Police say the incidents took place between May 30 and July 14.

Detectives have conducted ‘extensive’ CCTV searches to locate three people they wish to speak to in connection to the damage. Those searches have taken ‘weeks’, the force’s Tameside North and East division said.

“It’s estimated the damage, caused on the transport network in Tameside between Monday 30 May and Thursday 14 July 2022, will cost in the region of £30,000 to repair. It also severely disrupted bus and tram services.

"Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since May and we are now in a position to appeal for help to identify these three individuals who we believe can assist us.”
