Mohamed Salah should “remember” that previous Liverpool greats have flopped after leaving Anfield, according to Jamie Carragher.
Salah is in the midst of an ongoing saga over his future at the club. His contract runs out at the end of next season, but he has yet to agree fresh terms.
The Egyptian has continually stressed in recent weeks that he wants to pen a new deal. However, the reported stumbling block is the fact that Liverpool’s owners would have to break their wage structure.
Salah has insisted on the contrary that “it’s not everything about the money”. Indeed, he has now put the onus on Fenway Sports Group (FSG) – Liverpool’s owners – to prove their ambition.
According to Carragher, though, Salah should soften his stance by looking at the fortunes of other star players who have left Liverpool during Klopp’s reign. Georginio Wijnaldum has struggled at Paris Saint-Germain, while Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona switch did not work out.
“They have got to focus on creating history in less than a couple of weeks,” Carragher
