Carolina Panthers: Team unveils new black helmet design and fans can't contain themselves

Carolina Panthers fans have been reacting to a video that emerged showing a new look for the team’s helmet that they are going to be using this season.

Last year the league announced that it would allow teams to wear two different helmets so that they would look better with some of the team’s choices when they decide to either wear either a throwback design or go for an ‘alternate’ look during one-off games this season.

It meant that if a team wanted to experiment and go with a complete colour change or go back to a design that came from the 1970s, they wouldn’t nessrcarily look out of place by being forced to wear a modern helmet that might otherwise make it look out of place.

The latest team to announce their intentions are the Carolina Panthers. Now the Panthers do not have a vast history that they can fall back on when wishing to don a ‘retro’ look, as they were only founded in the mid-1990s and other than introducing a light-blue uniform in the year 2002, haven’t really changed a lot from what they were back then.

As a result, they have to go down the ‘alternate’ route when it comes to any new uniform designs, and this year they are going for something simple, but effective as they go for a blackout look, complete with a music video that wouldn’t look out of place in a horror movie:
