Carolina Panthers: Crucial detail could stop team appointing Super Bowl-winning head coach
The Carolina Panthers might have some trouble when it comes to appointing one particular name to be their new head coach.
The Carolina Panthers have certainly had a very rough start to the season, as they are now 1-4 after the first five weeks, with not a lot of promise for how they are going to be able to turn it around, despite it looking like a year when they might look to make some big noises in the NFC South, especially after they brought in Baker Mayfield to try and solve their problems at quarterback.

The problems have been present since the start of last season, and with the Panthers currently ranked last in the NFL when it comes to yards with just 1,357, they obviously felt that a change needed to be made, and that this was the easiest way to go about it.
The Panthers have announced that Steve Wilks, who was the team’s defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach, will take over as interim head coach for the foreseeable future, although whether or not he is just guiding them through until the end of the season, or if this is an audition for him to take on the role permanently, we’ll have to wait and see.
If he isn’t going to take it beyond 2022 though, there are a number of coaches they might look to hire, including one that will be very familiar to them.
